HCC’s Continuing Education Division also offers nursing education, without academic credit, including Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training, and nursing professional development courses.
AccreditationHCC’S associate degree nursing and practical nurse certificate programs are fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Upon approval of the Maryland Board of Nursing, associate degree graduates may take the national licensure examination for registered nurse and those completing the practical nurse certificate may apply to take the licensed practical nurse examination. Graduate licensure exam pass rates, program completion and satisfaction rates, and employment status are shared on the Program Outcomes Report page. This area of study is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215, 410-764-5124 and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, 404-975-5000. From October 15–17, 2019, Howard Community College will host a site visit by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

As part of the Nursing Student Association, Gibson participates in community nursing projects, such as helping administer flu shots to children in elementary schools.
